India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Bhutan on a two-day State Visit on 17 - 19 August 2019. This was Prime Minister Modi’s second State Visit to Bhutan after his first visit in June 2014. The State Visit is in keeping with the long-established tradition of regular exchange of visits at the highest levels between Bhutan and India. King Jigme Khesar and Queen Jetsun Pema hosted a luncheon in honour of Prime Minister Modi on 18th August 2019 at the Kuenrey of the Tashichhodzong.

Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen granted an audience to the outgoing Ambassador of Thailand to Bhutan Ms. Madurapochana Ittarong. Bhutan and Thailand have enjoyed warm and friendly relations, predating the establishment of formal diplomatic relations in 1989.
His Majesty The King granted an Audience to the Indian Foreign Secretary, His Excellency Subrahmanyam Jaishankar. His Excellency Subrahmanyam Jaishankar became the Foreign Secretary of India on 29 January 2015, and this is his first official visit to a foreign country since his appointment.
